Online legend leads after Day 1 EPT of San Remo
While Chris Moorman’s incredible run in 2011 is being looked at as one of the best transitions to live poker from an online poker legend, another online star has also been quietly leaving his mark on the live tournament trail this year, Taylor “ambiguosity” Paur. Paur is currently playing in the EPT San Remo Main Event and managed to end Day 1b of the tournament as the overall chip-leader, bagging up 188,200 chips at the end of the night.

Elio Fox wins WSOPE in dominating fashion
Elio Fox likely has a new favorite hand thanks to his impressive run at the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event: Pocket Tens –but only when he is dominated. Fox would enter the final table as the chip-leader, a position he held throughout the action on Thursday, and was able to deny three players in particular the WSOPE main Event title, as well as some other impressive accolades. Mortiz Kranich was looking to add his name to the list of Triple Crown winners, and both Shawn Buchanan and Chris Moorman had the chance to jump into the top spot on the World Series of Poker Player of the Year leader-board.

Three reasons why poker is a game of skill
Determining if a game is predominately skill or luck is a tricky endeavor, since even the most skillful players in the “skillful” game like blackjack cannot overcome the house advantage without resorting to card-counting. Poker on the other hand possesses enough of a skill advantage for practitioners to turn a profit –unless the “house” take is so much as to make the game unbeatable.

2011 WSOP Europe Main Event shatters record
Considering the Day 1a turnout of 310 players at the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event nearly eclipsed the old attendance record of 362 entrants, the decision to move the WSOPE from London, England (not widely regarded as the most hospitable climate in the world during mid-October) to Cannes, France on the French Riviera is looking like pure genius.

The 5 most hated people in poker: 2011 edition
Over the years there have been a lot of scandals involving poker players and in most of these cases the transgressions that occurred would eventually be forgiven provided the money involved wasn’t off-the-charts, and the perpetrator was willing to pay their dues and rehabilitate their image. However, there have been instances where the person involved is basically ostracized from the poker world and are loathed by the community.
